Sintered stone production line

What is
large-format
technical stone?

Made from natural mineral raw materials such as quartz, feldspar and clay, large-format technical stone is a new porcelain slab formed by high-pressure pressing with a 10,000-tonne-class press or above, then sintered at more than 1200°C. It is a full-body sintered material: the body and surface pattern are formed as one, rather than the two-layer "body + glaze" structure of ordinary ceramic tiles.

Features

The main strength of large-format technical stone combines scale, slim thickness and mechanical resistance. It answers the market demand for continuous surfaces, fewer joints and faster installation.

3mm/6mm slim slabs can be used for walls, furniture door panels and renovation over existing surfaces, while thicker formats suit countertops, tabletops and other demanding horizontal applications.

Installation and thickness

  • Slim slabs Light coverings for walls, furniture panels and quick renovation with less demolition.
  • 6mm A versatile option for large-format wall and floor surfaces in residential and commercial settings.
  • 20mm A stronger format for countertops, islands, tables and applications that need a thicker edge.
  • Speed Large slabs reduce joints and help shorten project installation time.

Slab installation process

Wet Adhesive Wall Installation

Layout Marking01

Layout Marking

Complete base treatment and precision wall leveling first. Snap dividing lines and reference datum lines, then set benchmark points to control thickness, verticality and flatness.

Adhesive Mixing02

Adhesive Mixing

Mix tile adhesive with water according to official instructions. Stir evenly with a low-speed mixer, rest for 5-10 minutes, then stir lightly again before use.

Clean Base & Release Agent03

Clean Base & Release Agent

Remove dust and foreign contaminants from bonding surfaces to avoid bonding failure. Fully clean the substrate before construction.

Adhesive Coating04

Adhesive Coating

Brush back adhesive onto the slab and wait for full drying. Spread mixed adhesive on both slab back and wall substrate, then scrape at a 30° angle with a notched trowel.

Sintered Stone Laying05

Sintered Stone Laying

Use tile leveling wedges to reserve uniform joint gaps during installation.

Flatness Adjustment06

Flatness Adjustment

Adjust the slab surface after laying so the installed face stays flat and aligned.

Joint Residue Cleaning07

Joint Residue Cleaning

Clean joint residue after installation to keep the surface ready for finishing.

Wet Adhesive Floor Installation

Clean & Level Construction Base01

Clean & Level Construction Base

Construct on cement-sand plaster or underfloor-heating base without debris. Base flatness tolerance should be <=3mm per 2-meter span.

Plaster Base Correction02

Plaster Base Correction

Verticality tolerance should be <=4mm per 2m. Remove hollow plaster residues with wire brushes and scrapers, re-level the base, then sweep all dust completely.

Snap Dividing Lines & Set Elevation Benchmarks03

Snap Dividing Lines & Set Elevation Benchmarks

Mark elevation reference points to control flatness of finished surface.

Special Adhesive Mixing04

Special Adhesive Mixing

Mix dedicated adhesive for large-format sintered stone according to the product manual. Spread a base adhesive layer with the straight edge of a notched trowel.

Comb Adhesive Ridges05

Comb Adhesive Ridges

Create full continuous zigzag adhesive ridges vertically, then re-comb horizontally with a notched trowel.

Adhesive Coating on Slab Back06

Adhesive Coating on Slab Back

Spread 6-8mm thick adhesive evenly on the clean back of sintered stone slabs.

Slab Laying Sequence07

Slab Laying Sequence

Lay slabs from inside to outside. Ensure full adhesive coverage to prevent hollow voids. Use spacers to keep joint width consistent; compact slabs with rubber mallets or plate vibrators.

Flatness Calibration08

Flatness Calibration

Slabs can be moved and adjusted within 30 minutes after laying, within the effective adjusting time of adhesive.

Advantages

JANYE large-format technical stone brings together the scale of a slab with the performance of a sintered mineral surface, creating durable solutions for countertops, furniture, walls, floors and outdoor cladding.

Its light formats are easy to handle and install, while thicker specifications support demanding horizontal applications. Fewer joints, resistant surfaces and simple maintenance help shorten project time and reduce long-term upkeep.

DurabilityDurability

Technical stone is hard and resistant to scratches, knocks, heat and intensive daily use, with a dense body that reduces the risk of damage.

Stain resistanceStain resistance

Its low-porosity surface does not readily absorb liquids, so coffee, wine, oils and other household spills can be cleaned before they penetrate.

UV resistantUV resistant

Unlike some natural stones, technical stone remains stable under UV exposure, helping colours stay consistent indoors and outdoors.

Heat resistanceHeat resistance

Excellent heat resistance makes the surface suitable around stoves, hot pans and changing temperatures in demanding kitchens.

HygieneHygiene

The non-porous surface helps inhibit bacteria, mould and mildew, supporting cleaner kitchens, bathrooms and wet areas.

Versatility of the designVersatility of the design

Ceramic inkjet decoration enables many colours, patterns and finishes, from stone and concrete to wood and other material effects.

Environmentally friendlyEnvironmentally friendly

Technical stone can include recycled content, efficient manufacturing and end-of-life recyclability as part of a responsible material strategy.

LongevityLongevity

Its resistance to wear helps large-format technical stone retain beauty and function for many years with proper care.

Room settings

Large-format technical stone adapts to different decorative languages: wood, stone, cement, metal, marble and solid colours. Its technical characteristics make it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, from facades, public spaces and pool linings to floors, walls, kitchens and bathrooms.

FAQs

Why choose large-format technical stone?
It creates continuous surfaces with fewer joints, improves hygiene and offers strong resistance to impact, abrasion, bending, frost, UV light, heat and stains.
Is it suitable for kitchens and bathrooms?
Yes. Low porosity, easy cleaning, heat resistance and stain resistance make it especially useful for kitchen counters, backsplashes, bathroom walls and wet areas.
Can it be installed quickly?
Large pieces cover more surface with fewer joints, and slim formats can often be installed over prepared existing surfaces, reducing demolition and shortening renovation time.
Where can technical stone be used?
Facades, public spaces, pool linings, floors, walls, kitchens, bathrooms, furniture panels and countertops can all use technical stone when the correct thickness and installation system are selected.

Summary & Key Takeaways

Slab introduction: This page is provided by Janye Slab (Foshan Janye Home Co., Ltd.). Founded in 2017, Janye is an international premium sintered stone brand integrating R&D, design, manufacturing and sales, and the authorized China operator and importer for the Spanish brands INALCO, TECHLAM, COVERLAM, ARGENTA and the Italian brand ATLAS PLAN. Its factory spans 100,000 m² with an annual output of nearly 90 million m².

What is a large-format sintered stone slab

A slab (also called sintered stone) is a large-format panel made from natural inorganic raw materials such as quartz, feldspar and clay, pressed under thousands of tonnes of force and fired in a kiln at about 1,200°C. Water absorption is typically ≤0.1% (near-zero porosity), and it is abrasion-, heat- and acid-resistant, fireproof, easy to clean and food-safe. Common thicknesses are 3mm, 6mm and 12mm, suitable for countertops, walls, floors, furniture surfaces and building façades.
